Ignition interlock device

Ignition Interlock

Following a DUI or DWI, it is common in many states that you will have to get an ignition interlock device installed in your car.  This car breathalyzer is attached to the vehicle and requires you to blow before you drive your car. The car breathalyzer will measure your breath alcohol level (BAC) to ensure that it is below 0.05%. If you are within the acceptable range, your car will start and you can continue on your way. If you are above the limit, your car will not start. You can try again later when you are in a safer BAC range.

Once you are on the road, the device will signal for you to give occasional re-tests.  These re-tests are very simple and quick.  You will be given several minutes to perform the test so you are able to perform safely.  These re-tests take less than one minute, and are only required occasionally.

Ignition interlock devices are much more affordable and easy to use than ever before.  It’s true – having one of these devices is not desirable.  However, the technology is so advanced, that the inconvenience is minimal.  In addition, the size of the device is unobtrusive.  Most units are the size of a cell phone.

These car breathalyzers are installed at an installation location in your area.  The initial set-up takes one to two hours.  During the set up, you’ll be given instructions on how to use the device; then you’ll be on your way!

Each month, you’ll take the device back to the installation location for a recalibration.  These appointments usually are much shorter.

IgnitionInterlock.com, is an ignition interlock provider with years of experience providing some of the most technologically advanced ignition interlock devices available on the market.  In addition to a reliable product, Smart Start takes pride in their competitive pricing and convenient installation locations.
